Tactile (Touch)
The tactile system is responsible for processing and interpreting light touch, temperature, pain, vibration and joint and muscle position (also called proprioception). Some children have difficulty interpreting tactile information and may be over or under responsive to tactile input received. A child that is hypo-sensitive (under-responsive) to tactile input may frequently touch and fidget with objects, or seem unbothered by pain and temperature changes. A child that is hyper-sensitive (over-responsive) to tactile input may dislike wearing clothing or engaging in grooming activities (i.e. brushing teeth or hair), dislike affection and messy play.
Products in this range can support a child's tactile processing.
